This is a quiet and secluded camping location with ACCESS to the river, access to farm land, ponds and DNR land. Our camp spots are private and not stacked on top of each other. We also have cows in our neighboring farm and places for you to walk, trails to hike and places to fish and duck hunt. Right now we have dry camping with outdoor honey buckets. Our goal is to have showers and running water soon. We are working on a 💯 solar ran facility soon. We are wanting something that you can clear your mind, camp In peace. We want our campers to help in the developing process. We also offer wood for sale and all of our sites have wood burning areas. We also have ice and delivery services. WE ARE VW Friendly!!! Lol We are about 45 minutes from ocean beaches, only a few minutes from the best riding, hiking and boating in the world. We have a cute bar and restaurant within a mile. Also gas and groceries are close as well. Boat launch is about 1/2 a block easy access.You will have a secluded spot all your own without people stacked on top of you. Lots of river and low bank river access within walking distance. We also border DNR land. This is wooded and nice. Lots of hiking, siting or fishing by the river. Boat launch across the street, swimming and ATVs are able to drive up on DNR land. We are open year-round for hunters of all kinds and campers. We want to grow with a community. *We are a new campground we are working out the bugs of this site and our land. If you are an impatient person or an unhappy person, please do not stay with us. Life happens and we can only adjust to each circumstance as they come along. With that said the site does not have an address as we are a wilderness area, we like to meet and great all our campers. This is $28 folks it’s not the Ritz's… Please be honest, its 4 people (1 family) PER camp spot. That doesn't mean 4 friends with 4 cars, 4 tents, 3 kids and 4 dogs.  if you have more people in your party, please book more spots accordingly. Yes, you have to walk to the bathroom, yes there is a river, but you have to walk to it less than 40 to 200 yards depending on where you stay!! There is a boat launch, but you have to launch your own boat, there might be a train that pops by once in a while. It’s harmless, it doesn’t toot its horn or anything and it’s slow. Do we have wild animals YES!!! So be aware of your surroundings. ATVS are ok in the Capital Forrest which is just down the road. We do not allow Atvs On our land except in your camping spot and down the road to go to the capital Forrest or drive our roads to swimming areas. Wood when it rains gets wet!!! So, if it’s in a stack it can absorb water. What if the combination of my truck and trailer exceeds 30ft? Well, we are experienced and still might be able to help if you ask. But our policy is 30 total feet or less. We do our best to help EVERYONE, however if you don’t ask you don’t know and the ones that don’t know always assume so be sure to ask. We love helping people that are happy and ready to relax. If your amped up, we will ask you to leave we DOOOOOO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH RUDE OR UNREASONABLE PEOPLE PEROID. Remember this is my 1000 acres and I choose to share it very cheap to those that can’t enjoy this kind of stuff, when it becomes a hassle, I shut the gates and let friends and family enjoy. Please let us know your needs!! Update as of 9/7/2022: There is talk about sites at river, we have some in their premature stage. This is not offered through our Hip Camp site yet. However, we do upon arrival let people stay right on the water on a case-by-case deal. There are reasons for this: When we initially opened, we allowed people to camp there through Hip Camp and I was getting low stars ratings because Entitled people thought for $28 bucks, they got the whole river to themselves and would fight with other campers, than they would cry because the bathroom was too far. IT JUST GOT TO EXHAUSTING. So now I do it judging by the vibe the camper gives me when they arrive. Next year I’m going to try to set up some premium sites on the river and work super hard at getting amenities that will match that price. But for now, Enjoy Camp Hope and the river too!! We appreciate the wonderful feedback everyone gives it helps us grow with you!! Thanks Robby Update: We are also toying around with the idea of a VW BUS Camping experience. This would a nights stay in your own Vw westfalia Bus. The spots would have camp pits, concrete sitting area and a bus suite for your sleeping and lounging needs, these sites would also have 12volt solar power lighting systems. My question to the community is what is a fair price for a stay like that?

It was our first time camping at this site and we brought our two small dogs with us. Everyone had a great time. The spot we chose was next to the river so that we could also go kayaking and fishing. It was fairly quiet and private the whole weekend to spend — we pretty much had the whole area to ourselves. Also liked there was firewood at our site, we brought our own but ran out the last day so it came in handy.

Okay Campground, better in Summer?
The campground was attractive enough. Our campsite was quite private. However, there were not enough sani-cans for the holiday weekend. It was overfull by Monday, kinda gross. The river access was a big disappointment. The only way to the river was through a very muddy "roadway". In late summer I am confident it won't be muddy. Also, the campsites they have created down by the river do not have any flat areas for tents as of yet. More work required there. One road in the campground lacks a proper turnaround. That is a big issue when pulling a trailer. To access the sites on that road, because of their angle to the road, you need to back your trailer down the road. Not ideal. One of their workers brought us ice on our first night. That was nice. Other than that, we never saw anyone in charge of the campground all weekend. The surrounding area is very nice. We had a nice hike up above Porter, followed by a satisfying burger and beer at The Gray Goat in Oakville.

All my neighbors were very respectful. The grounds had some trash, but we left the place better than it was when we got there. I hope everyone does! Bring some tables and your own water. The provided wood is good quality and there is quite a bit. You'll pay more for wood at the grocery, if you're into that. I'll probably go back. Would recommend!

It's okay. We had a decent time.
The campground was nice enough, but not deserving of high praise. I will start with the positives. Our camp site was quite private. It had a nice fire pit. It was stocked with wood. They had a worker deliver ice to us. The surrounding area is attractive. The train that passes the place goes about 4 miles an hour. It's not overly loud, and it's really pretty cool. Now the negatives: They did not have enough outhouses for the number of campers there. By the end of memorial Day weekend the one we were using was overfilled. It was gross. We never saw the host, nor met the host. There was no presence of people in charge there except for the one guy that briefly delivered ice to us. The " river access" was through a deep river of mud. There was no other way to the river except through the mud. These people have been developing campsites down at the river. There is no flat spot for a tent there yet, so they have more work yet to do. There is a nearby gun range. They are quite intrusive. The camping loop to the right of the entrance does not have a turnaround at the end of the road. This does not bode well for people towing trailers. And you have to be going the reverse direction to get your trailer backed in. Before arriving I tried contacting the host via the hip camp app. They never responded. I tried three times.
